Rachelle Cruz is a multi-media journalist based in Toronto.
Rachelle is a correspondent for Balitang America, ABS-CBN News, North America Bureau, a global channel that caters to the Filipino community worldwide. But her career in journalism started in print, when she first wrote for The Philippine Reporter, her first feature was the Canada Philippine Fashion Week.
She is also currently the host and executive producer of a newly-launched magazine-style talk show called “The It List” on FTV under Ethnic Channels Group (ECG).
The show focuses on what’s “It” at the moment from lifestyle, music, fashion, art, health and beauty. The weekly half-hour talk show showcases Filipino talents and culture, targeting audience of younger demographic.
From events like Toronto Men’s Fashion Week, World Pride Parade, Toronto International Film Festival, to local stories like Kapisanan’s Kultura, John Ablaza’s Couture and Culture, and municipal elections, Rachelle is reporting on issues and events that impact her community.
She has also profiled celebrated media personalities like The Social’s Melissa Grelo and CBC’s Marivel Taruc. Rachelle has also contributed to Accent Magazine and profiled Jon De Porter Jewelry, a top-of-the- line designer for Kleinfeld Bridal.
Aside from her experience in broadcasting and print, Rachelle hosted various events and festivals in her community such as the Youth Leadership Summit and Toronto Sushi Festival. She is a member of the Philippine Press Club of Ontario and the National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada.
She graduated from Ryerson University in 2008, and majored in TV/Radio Broadcasting.
Recently, Rachelle was nominated for the 2015 Notable Award in the Entertainment Category in Toronto.
